Let’s stop this one before it even starts, everyone, because the Existing Home Sales report from the National Association of REALTORS®, it showed home sales dropping last month and a rise in available homes for sale. That doesn’t mean housing is headed to a crash. That’s sensational and a flavor of headline designed to make you click.
None of that is happening. Here are the facts. One: home sales dropped to 4.19 million on an annual basis.
That’s still the second-highest reading since last May. Two: home inventory climbed almost 5%. But the time it took the typical home to sell dropped 13%.
Homes are selling faster. And three: foreclosures and short sales, which rise preceding a crash, are still at 2 percent of all homes, practically unchanged. Remember, February was a very strong month for housing.
March was just strong relative. It looks weak. It’s really not.
Housing is strong. And if you’re looking for a home right now, actively, you can see it with your own two eyes. I’m Dan with Homebuyer.com.
