Mortgage Rates Haven’t Slowed Home Buyers – April 26, 2024

Just because mortgage rates are the highest they’ve been this year, that doesn’t mean that home sales are coming to a halt. Not even close. New data from the National Association of REALTORS® shows that homes going into contract in March jumped to reach their highest projected level in a year, up more than 3 percent over February, suggesting that homebuyers are going to do what homebuyers do best, that’s shop for homes, write contracts, and get themselves ready for move-in day.

So if you were sitting on the sidelines thinking, “Nobody’s going to buy in this market, rates are too high!”, That is simply not what’s happening. Rates up, rates down. Buyers are buying in every part of the country, in every county, city, neighborhood, and all the while, home supplies remain tight, prices are moving up.
